Fierce feral cat shows up to neighbor's house limping one day, the heartwarming hoomans save him and purrfectly provide him a new chance at life (Video)

Happy Fursday, feline fam. One of the many reasons why people who love cats are the best is that they love to help even the strongest, most fiercest feral felines when they're having a tough time. Boy cats may not cry, but they certainly still get boo-boos every once in a while. That's where Hunt comes in - he's a local feral cat who is known by one feline-loving hooman in his neighborhood. One day, Hunt showed up with a pretty bad limp, so the heartwarming hooman risked it all to trap him and get him to the vet.

It's a good thing she did, too! Turns out he had an infected claw and some other wounds that needed healing. After a week of R&R, they were ready to release him back into the wild, but then the most mysterious thing happened….did this fierce feline hunter discover the pleasures of indoor life and decide he wanted to be an indoor cat?     These people did the right thing, and even better, they did it safely. You have no idea how cats will react to being picked up, especially feral ones. Always protect yourself first before dealing with wild cats. They are called "wild" for a reason!

The neighbors of Hunt's block had noticed him limping and hoped it might improve over time on its own. Instead, his limp became more severe until he avoided putting any weight on it.

    Rather than keep his distance, Hunt began letting them come closer to him than he typically allowed. Maybe as if he knew they might try to help. These very same wonderful neighbors applied to foster a different cat through me and on our foster call they mentioned the hurt tuxedo in their yard. Together we discussed the options in front of us.

    It is really hard to diagnose or understand the true extent of a cat's injuries in the field. Cats are experts at hiding pain and for outdoor cats their survival can depend on that masking. We didn't know if Hunts injuries were minor or extensive. We didn't know what amount of recovery time he'd need or what bills we'd be looking at. We all breathed a sigh of relief to see his injuries weren't terribly severe (yet) and that we got him medical attention before the infection worsened. One exam, wo

    As an independent rescuer I was able to confidently say yes to taking on Hunt's case because I knew I wasn't alone. The extra funds raised for the Carroll St cats paid for his exam, and the wonderful neighbors- turned-fosters offered to help hold and care for him if his recovery time extended through my holiday travels (which it did.)

    The original plan was to release Hunt after a week of rest, but then he let out a squeak heard around the world. Story watchers already know but for everyone else, stay tuned for part 2 as I ply him with a zillion churus in our last two days together to try to see if he's actually wants to spend 2025 as an indoor boy!
